PATRICK COURREGES

Patrick Courreges is The Advocate's Acadiana Bureau Chief, working from an office located in Lafayette and generally covering Acadiana politics, the Lafayette School Board and Iberia Parish. He lives in Lafayette with his wife, who is a middle-school teacher, and a step-daughter.

A native of north Louisiana and graduate of LSU, he served seven years in the U.S. Navy submarine force after high school before returning to Louisiana to finish college. He worked with The Advocate as a free-lance reporter and news aide while in college, where he served as editor of LSU's daily newspaper, The Reveille. After graduation and stints working for two other publications, Courreges signed on with The Advocate's Capitol News Bureau, covering the state Legislature for several years before taking the Acadiana Bureau post.
