Arts camps’ deadlines approaching

Deadlines to apply for the Arts Council of Livingston Parish summer camp for incoming fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders are approaching. “Spring into the Arts Camp” sessions last June 9 through July 10 and cost $105 each.

Sessions include decorative painting, puppet theater, wire sculpting and watercolors. The first of the four sessions, which is 8 a.m. to noon June 9 through June 13, has a May 25 registration deadline. Later sessions have later deadlines, but spots are first-come, first-served.

Sessions happen at parish public schools or the Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center in Walker. Call (225)  664-1168.

Tourney talks tonight
Teams and hole sponsors are needed for the Denham Springs Athletics Association Golf Classic Saturday at Carter Plantation golf course, 23475 Carter Trace, Springfield.

The group will discuss the event at 7 p.m. today at Cocodrie’s, 123 Aspen Square, Denham Springs. The four-player scramble raises money for the association, which supports Denham Springs High School athletics.

Day of family fun, food

Sale to help shelter
A garage sale benefiting Women Outreaching Women, a shelter for victims of domestic violence, is 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 26852 4-H Club Road, Denham Springs.

Dogs to work runway
Dog owners are invited to dress their pets for a fashion show during the Canine Fun Day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 26, at the Continental Kennel Club near Livingston.

The contest is one of several dog competitions planned for the Louisiana Future Farmers of America fund-raiser. Other contests include an “owner/dog look-a-like contest,” a dog relay and an obedience competition, which costs $5 and requires  pre-registration. Admission is $3. Smokies, casino, Dolly
The Livingston Council on Aging is hosting a seven-day trip to the Smoky Mountains from Sept. 28 through Oct. 4. Price includes lodging, food, five shows, visits to Dollywood and a casino, and a guided tour of the Smokies. Call Dale Wilson at (225) 664-9343.
