BOB ANDERSON

Bob Anderson is The Advocate's Florida Parish's Bureau chief. He is responsible for news coverage in Livingston, Tangipahoa, St. Helena, St. Tammany and Washington parishes.

Anderson is a 35-year-veteran with The Advocate, having won more than 40 state, regional and national reporting awards.

Prior to taking becoming the Florida Parishes bureau chief he served as the paper's environmental editor.

I have seen my death, and it is by Virginia creeper. Maybe the fatal day won’t come for years, but I’ll be working in my garden, stop to rest and slip into a nap.
Listening to my wife, Mary, prepare to teach a remedial reading program reminded me of one of the most disappointing days of my childhood. We didn’t have kindergarten in Labadieville in the mid-1950s. The first time we carried our book satchels onto the big yellow bus, it took us to first grade.
Growing up Baptist, I didn’t participate in All Saints Day, though living along Bayou Lafourche exposed me to the concept at an early age. To be honest, I’ve seldom thought much about the day, but this year I got a feel for its beauty.
Shirley Welles’ smile told the story better than any of the speakers Saturday. That’s not to say that the string of presidents of Citizens for a Clean Tangipahoa Parish didn’t have a lot to be proud of or that they didn’t tell their stories well.
