BOB ANDERSON

Bob Anderson is The Advocate's Florida Parish's Bureau chief. He is responsible for news coverage in Livingston, Tangipahoa, St. Helena, St. Tammany and Washington parishes.

Anderson is a 35-year-veteran with The Advocate, having won more than 40 state, regional and national reporting awards.

Prior to taking becoming the Florida Parishes bureau chief he served as the paper's environmental editor.

Growing up Baptist, I didn’t participate in All Saints Day, though living along Bayou Lafourche exposed me to the concept at an early age. To be honest, I’ve seldom thought much about the day, but this year I got a feel for its beauty.
Shirley Welles’ smile told the story better than any of the speakers Saturday. That’s not to say that the string of presidents of Citizens for a Clean Tangipahoa Parish didn’t have a lot to be proud of or that they didn’t tell their stories well.
What started out to be a trip to the Angola Rodeo turned out to be a hike instead. Though I’ve spent all but a couple of years of my life in Louisiana, I’ve never been to the prison rodeo, even if it has always sounded like great entertainment.
The groaning sound and the fact that we were circling the Everglades after takeoff told me something was amiss. The pilot soon confirmed my suspicions when he announced that we were going back to Miami rather than north to New Orleans.
