Old Clinton High is site for festival
East Feliciana Community Center Inc., the group working to renovate the old Clinton High School building for use as a community center, is sponsoring a day of nostalgia and fun 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Plank Road site.
Local legislators will give an update on the current sausage-making session at 10 a.m., and entertainment, food and an exhibit of old CHS memorabilia will be featured. Rides include a children’s Ferris wheel and a “Time Machine” for adults.
Admission is free, but donations will be accepted.
Clinton market Saturday
While you’re in town Saturday, check out the merchandise at Clinton’s Monthly Community Market in the downtown area beginning at 8 a.m. Look for the new flag display by the Main Street program and businesses.
Archaeologist visiting
The Felicianas Chapter of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at LSU will hold a coffee at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in St. Francisville. The gathering features a talk by LSU archaeologist Rob Mann on recent research at a Spanish colonial outpost in Ascension Parish.
Area residents 50 and older are invited to participate in the group’s programs.
EBR Library program
Storyteller Claudia Baum- garten presents a program for children 3 to 9 years of age at 2:30 p.m. today at the Pride-Chaneyville branch library, 13600 Pride-Port Hudson Road, and at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Zachary branch, 1900 Church St.
Audubon Library events
Three-time Emmy Award-winner Bobby Norfolk will entertain children with stories at the Audubon Regional Library’s three branches on Wednesday. He’ll be at the Jackson branch at 10:30 a.m., Clinton United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. and the Greensburg branch at 3 p.m.
As part of the summer reading program, “Be Creative at Your Library,” the Jackson branch will sponsor free art classes for the entire month of June for children ages 4-12. Classes will be every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Caroline Harrell will teach the classes.

Night moves
A professional water-ski-jump competition and a lakeside fest will be featured Saturday night in Louisiana Night Jam 2009 at Tri-Lakes Inc., 18605 Barnett Road, Zachary. The gates open 5 p.m., and the show starts 8 p.m.
Some 30 professional water-ski-jumpers from around the country will compete for prize money under the lights. Admission is $5 per person or $20 for a carload.
Education fun day
The eighth annual East Feliciana Educational Family Day will be Saturday at McManus Park, next to the fire station, on La. 10 east of Jackson. The opening ceremony will be at 10 a.m., and free food will be served at 11:30 a.m.
