A man accused of breaking into a convenience store and stealing two cash registers and a case of beer has been arrested, deputies said this morning in a news release.
Duane Eddie Jones, 44, 30122 N. Willow St., Livingston, was booked Friday with simple burglary, simple criminal damage to property, aggravated flight and resisting arrest, East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s spokeswoman Casey Rayborn Hicks said in the news release.
Both Sheriff’s Office deputies and Baton Rouge police officers spotted Jones driving on Magnolia Bridge Road at Greenwell Springs Road and stopped him, Hicks said.
Jones ran from the traffic stop, but the police officers soon caught him, Hicks said.
The burglary took place Aug. 3 at the Romero’s Food Mart, 13921 Joor Road. A man who has tattoos on his right calf and right bicep shattered the front door of the business to get inside, Hicks said.
