Woman struck, killed on Burbank Avenue
A 36-year-old Baton Rouge woman was killed Monday when she was hit by a car while walking along Burbank Avenue near Gardere Lane.
Tammy D. Walters, who is suspected to have been impaired by drugs or alcohol at the time of her death, was hit by a 2004 Mazda Tribute about 1:15 a.m., said Trooper Russell Graham, a State Police spokesman.
The man driving the Mazda — Tyrone W. Scott, 33, of Baton Rouge — submitted to a blood alcohol test, the results of which showed he was not impaired, Graham said. Scott was not arrested.
